Abstract:
This research paper addresses the effects of the emerging Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic on legal terms according to UAE law. It sheds light on the nature of legal periods and deadlines and their types, then addresses the effects that the new Corona virus pandemic has had on those legal periods and deadlines. It also sheds light on the legislative texts developed in the comparative laws concerned with protecting legal periods and deadlines during the period of the spread of the pandemic, especially in light of the UAE legislator being satisfied with the provisions of general rules in the law, and not creating special texts to protect legal periods during the pandemic.
The study concludes that it is necessary to introduce legislative texts to regulate and take into account procedural deadlines during the period of the spread of the Corona pandemic, or other circumstances and excuses that make it impossible to claim the right or take any legal measures.
Keywords: Corona pandemic, precautionary measures, statute of limitations, legal excuse, suspension of legal and procedural periods, and public order.
