In this issue, the journal of Kuwait International Law School has marked its fifth year, and the establishment phase has been successfully completed, both in terms of regularity and diffusion and in terms of attracting researchers and gaining their confidence, and more importantly, promoting the level of published legal research through the activation of the referral, review and follow-up systems.
There is no doubt that the figures and statistics available confirm the evaluation of the previous stage. The Editorial Department issued twenty (20) issues of the journal’s quarterly issue, which included a total of one hundred and sixty-two (162) research papers, one hundred and thirty four (134) of them were written in Arabic and twenty eight (28) in English. In addition, three (3) special supplements were published, including forty-eight (48) research papers which have been presented at the School’s annual conference, forty (40) of them were written in Arabic and eight (8) in English.
While the majority of researchers included in the past issues are from the faculty of Kuwait International Law School and Kuwaiti universities and academic institutions, the list of researchers has expanded in recent years to include researchers from most of the Arab universities, such as Cairo University, King Abdulaziz University (Jeddah), King Saud University (Riyadh) Mohammed V University (Morocco), the University of Jordan, the University of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates University, the University of Bahrain, the Sultan Qaboos University, the Lebanese University and a number of Algerian universities. It also includes foreign universities such as the University of Warwick and Cambridge (UK) and the University of Texas and San Diego (USA).
The number of referees used by the journal to evaluate research papers and determine their validity for publication has increased to more than 100 referees from different legal disciplines and from various universities. This has helped the editorial board to significantly improve the level of published research.
The foregoing is a brief account of what has been achieved, but it will certainly remain incomplete if it does not coincide with the evaluation of the editorial board after five years, which has already been conducted and resulted in a set of policies and decisions aimed at developing the journal in terms of objectivity, methodology and formality, and shall be published in the next issue. It should also be noted that these steps fall within the framework of a project of renewal and development in legal thought and research methodology, which is promoted by Kuwait International Law School and applied firstly in its institutions as it aspires this project to have positive feedback in the academic and scientific Arab and foreign legal world, given the positive values it includes.
The journal of Kuwait International Law School is a platform provided by the School to contribute to the promotion of academic research inside and outside Kuwait. It is keen to continuously develop and enhance its content within the framework of interaction and positive contribution of researchers as partners in this academic project. While the journal will publish its plan in its next issue, it is always looking forward to research contributions and positive suggestions from researchers from various Arab and foreign universities and research institutions.
